Resisting arrest is a misdemeanour governed by Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 268 Section 32B. It is punishable by up to 2.5 years in a house of corrections or a fine up to $500, or both.
Resisting arrest is knowingly preventing or attempting to prevent a police officer acting in their official authority from making an arrest by using or threatening to use force against the officer, or by any other means that create a substantial risk of causing bodily injury to the officer.
